The Waiting Game...for the last time?
In 2 hours from now, I'll know one way or the other whether I passed the final accounting exam or not. I wish I could just skip all of today and just go straight to tomorrow and Sunday - I've got plans to see friends and that's awesome. I often find weekends where I just sit around a lot a bit of a waste of available time, you know?

Anyway, I keep saying I'm happier the way it is right now - a perpetual state of not-knowing. At least for the next 2 hours. I've been equating it to a television show that gets cancelled before its finale -- something I should know a bit about by now, I think. But anyway, the gist is that you won't ever know what the final outcome was; you'll just remember the good times that preceded it. Sure, you might be a little resentful about investing all that time and energy into that show, but in the long-run you will accept that there will never be a canon answer to your questions [unless they make follow-up comics or movies], and this leaves you free to make your own theories and conclusions.

As Isolde shrewdly pointed out, however, this exam result differs from a cancelled TV show in at least one way -- I DO have to know eventually whether I've passed or not, 'cause it would suck if I was supposed to retake the exam next year and didn't even know I had to. Damn.

My fun weekend plans that I prefer to think about instead are as follows --
Saturday: The One of a Kind Show with Izzy and Kat and another of Kat's friends, where we're pretty sure Kat is gonna die and go to craft and stationery heaven; this is followed by my company Christmas winter party, to which just Iz will be coming with me, because the Barenaked Ladies are gonna be there and they're her favorite group. I don't know how my company managed to get BNL to play our company party, really, but...well, there you go!

Sunday: Plans with my study buddy Michelle - hopefully we'll still be up for getting together, depending how today's results go. I think we've decided we'll do something regardless of today's outcome.... Plan is to do a bit of Christmas shopping and probably see a movie (Enchanted, most likely) and then play my new XBox 360 games. Should be fun. DESPITE today.

Anyway, that's all that's up for the moment. If I pass the exam I'm going back to the office and then Hard Rock Café for celebrations. And if not...well, then I'll just be here. Trying not to mope. I look forward to it.

I figure the best way to deal with not having enough time to do everything I have to do before tomorrow is to take a minute to write in my blog here. I feel it is the appropriate response to this situation, but I am open to counterarguments. The crapload of stuff I still need to do is .... well, a crapload. The list ain't gettin' any shorter...

Y'all down here in Texas certainly do say "y'all" a lot. If it weren't for, you know, the actual work that I have to do while I'm here, I'm sure I would consider Houston pleasant enough for the most part. Then again, without the work, I wouldn't BE here, so... double-edged sword?

Anyhoodle, talk to y'all later, all right?

Oh God, I'm never gonna get everything done...

Miscellanea
Hey, dudes, how's it going?

The last time I checked, summer was just ending, so yesterday I was quite surprised to notice the big piles of fallen leaves on the ground outside of where I go to get my hair cut (finally! Haven't had my hair cut since September of last year, which is a good 14 months ago. My hair is still long, mind you, except now it's just long as opposed to ridiculously long, so it's all good). I mean, when did that happen? I realize that it is already November, but seriously...the fall has really crept up on me this year. Weird.

Another weird thing going on right now is that one of our condo windows is seriously cracked...like, not just a little cracked. TOTALLY cracked. At first glance my mom thought it was just weirdly frosted over or something, but then it was just the one pane so she took a closer look...you can see for yourselves - it's a camera phone photo so it isn't the greatest, but still. I'm pretty sure you can tell which pane it is.

I've been listening to the Deathly Hallows audiobook -- I have no reason to do so, really, other than "why not?" -- and it's the British version read by Jim Dale. Funny part is that my mom heard it and said it sounded like I was watching Pushing Daisies, and I said that it probably just sounded similar because it was a cutesy, British narration. Then I was watching the latest Daisies episode with her today and actually saw the name 'Jim Dale' in the opening credits. Ha! So it turns out my mother actually has quite a good ear; it is the same narrator after all.

Speaking of Pushing Daisies, thought I should mention the new shows I've been watching. My favorite of the new shows might be Chuck, I think, and I've also been enjoying Dirty Sexy Money. Daisies started off being somewhat too cute for my liking, but it's in a good groove now for the most part and easier to like. There's also Reaper, which I'm not sure my mother minions always remember to record for me, and Gossip Girl, which so far is a moderately-entertaining, no-thought-required hour of viewing. Private Practice is a take-it-or-leave-it and I usually end up leaving it in favour of a bit of downtime in the middle of a busy workweek. At least Piz is still getting work. The first episode of Women's Murder Club was decent enough but I think I'll use Fridays to catch up on everything else. Moonlight is as suck-ass as it sounded like it would be; sorry, Logan. At least Veronica's on a decent show. Captain Mal and the man they call Jayne are doing all right, too. Also, Joss Whedon has just announced that he's got a new show that will be coming to TV soon, probably in 2008 depending on the writers' strike. Yay!

My So-Called Life just came out on DVD again, which is exciting. If you haven't watched the show before I highly recommend buying the set. It's only 19 episodes, too, so it's not a big commitment if you're weary about that kind of thing. Also, The Princess Bride is being re-re-released on DVD again...but it's really cool this time! Come on; just check out the box cover art and tell me it isn't awesome.

I'm going to Houston, Texas for work next week. Should be interesting; I'm thinking of maybe going to visit the NASA Space Center while I'm there, if I have time. Have to make the travel arrangements, argh.

Also, one last thing - which of these CD album covers do you like better?
